Day 305, Project 365

Explore Minnesota continues!  Bob and I drove down to St. Benedict and Carver, Minnesota today visiting the areas where his grandparents were born.

First stop, St. Benedict and the Miller side. The church is no longer active, sadly; it is a beautiful building.

Behind the church is the parish cemetery.  Many relatives are buried here including Bob's Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma Miller and his Great Aunt Genevieve.

Then we drove over to Carver where Bob's Grandma was born.  We visited the St. Nicholas Catholic Church where a stained glass window is dedicated to a Riesgraf family member, Johann.  We also met the priest of the parish who allowed to go inside the church and updated us on the things happening within the parish.

Because I was curious about the church I found this article.

  1. Love the stained glass ones! I like the angle of the close-up.
